Saboteur

Tournament Rules

Follow the base game rules with the following exceptions:

• Add Selfish dwarf role
  • Use red vested Gold Digger to represent Selfish dwarf
  • The player who holds this character card wins only when they themselves connect the start card with the gold card
• Rules vary based on number of players (5 – 6 only)
  • 5 players:
    • Remove 10 cards from play
    • Hand size: 6
    • Use exactly 3 Gold diggers
    • Use exactly 1 Selfish dwarf
    • Use exactly 1 Saboteur
  • 6 players:
    • Hand size: 6
    • Use exactly 3 Gold diggers
    • Use exactly 1 Selfish dwarf
    • Use exactly 2 Saboteurs
• Draw and place 1 path half way between the start card and the centre goal card (if the drawn card is not a path, keep drawing)

Scoring

Payout per round

• Denote which player connected the path from the start card with the gold card with a * on the scoresheet
• Gold Digger who connects path from the start card with the gold card
  • 3 gold coins
• All other Gold diggers, if Gold diggers connect the path from the start card with the gold card
  • 2 gold coins
• Selfish dwarf who connected the path from the start card with the gold card
  • 4 gold coins
  • NOTE: Selfish dwarf receives no gold if they did not connect the path from the start card with the gold card
• Saboteurs win only if the Gold diggers and Selfish dwarf do not connect the path from the the start card with the gold card by the time that all cards run out
  • 3 gold coins to each saboteur

Manual scoring

• After 3 rounds add up gold coins earned by each player
• Ties are broken by number of * each player earned
• Further ties are broken by the first player to earn a *
• Based on gold earn across all tables
  • Top 1/5 of players earn: 40 points
  • 2nd group of 1/5 players earn: 30 points
  • 3rd group of 1/5 players earn: 25 points
  • 4th group of 1/5 players earn: 20 points
  • 5th group of 1/5 players earn: 15 points
